Optional Instructional Programs
The Amity Board of Directors recognizes that the educational goals of the Amity School District may be attained through diverse instructional approaches and endorses the development of a variety of optional programs through the cooperative effort of educators, parents and pupils.
An optional program is defined as a complete educational program for the pupil which provides a distinctive learning environment as a means of achieving the educational goals of the Amity School District. Optional programs may differ from one another in terms of instructional methodology, specific curriculum content, time and place for learning, interpersonal relationships of pupils and adults, methods of evaluation and relative priorities placed on educational goals. Optional programs may be available to pupils, teachers and parents by choice.
